For many years, Mountain View Orchard, located at 1811 Shelby Road was a mainstay in Kings Mountain. This roadside stop was a great place to always pick up fresh vegetables.
On a cold and windy Wednesday morning, March 26th, a group of nine North Shelby Students volunteered to conduct a litter sweep over a portion of West Marion Street.

Alexander Rhett Chamberlain passed peacefully at 24 years of age in the company of close family on March 31, 2013 at 5:46 am following complications from a hiking accident in Wilson Creek Gorge, NC.
Mrs. Doris Wilkes Crowe, 91, of 923 Thore Road, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Jimmy Grayson, Sr., 71, of 121 Holly Lane, Apt. B, passed away Monday April 1, 2013 at his residence
Ms. Mary Dee Cole Gordon, 85 passed away on March 31, 2013 at Hospice of Kings Mountain.
Percy Stokes Lynn, age 89, resident of Kings Mountain, NC died March 31, 2013 at Belaire Healthcare Center, Gastonia, NC.
Phyllis J. Hoppes, age 72, of South Church Street, Forest City, NC, died Saturday, March 23, 2013 at her residence.

It’s hard to find a better month for hunting and fishing than in April. With the fish biting and the turkeys gobbling, I find myself in a fevered pitch trying to fit it all in. If I could just get my grass to stop growing until June, then I’d be fine. But then, there’s the carport and the other outside maintenance that is calling my name as well.

On March 29, Pinnacle Classical Academy Board of Directors named Dr. Danielle Robertson headmaster for the school. Board chair, Debbie Clary stated, “We are fortunate to find someone of the caliber and experience to be the administrator of the school. Dr. Robertson’s classroom experience and formal training in curriculum ensure that Pinnacle will be not only well operated, but will be operated in a way that ensures our children learn.”
The City of Shelby Solid Waste Division Spring Bulky Item Pick-up is scheduled the week of April 15th – 18th . Items such as: furniture, boxes, mattresses, and bagged clothes, etc., will be picked up from the curbside.
