2014 Potato Project Underway
Students head to the field
On Friday, February 7th the Shelby Civitan Club joined together with local students to help plant potatoes for The Cleveland County Potato Project. Fifty-five students from North Shelby School partnered with students from Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy, Burns, Crest and Shelby to plant over 3,000 pounds of potatoes, the largest planting ever completed in the history of the project. When the planting is harvested the proceeds will help support North Shelby School’s Christmas dinner and in addition provide food for those in need in our community. Special thanks to all participating students, Project coordinators Doug Sharp, Bill Horn and Jim Sander and to Travis Magnum for use of his farm.
