Albert Petty, age 80, died Monday, May 15, 2017 at Hospice Wendover after a courageous 36 year battle with Leukemia.. Born in Cleveland County on April 19, 1937, he was the son of the late Claxton Julius and Sara Lou Whitaker Petty. He was a member of Patterson Grove Baptist Church in Kings Mountain where he served as a former Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He retired from Dixie Industrial as President after 27 years of service and later with Industrial Component and Technology in Conover. He represented Dixie Industrial Supply with great skill and dignity on all important matters regarding customer relations and customer contracts. He was also a true mechanical genius in the application of all types of industrial equipment. Highly regarded by the industrial supply industry, he was peerless in his unique ability to solve business problems. In his spare time he enjoyed working in the yard, and being with his family and friends. He also enjoyed watching the sunset with his neighbors on Moss Lake. In addition to his parents, Albert is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Betty Petty; and a son-in-law, Dale Hartsoe.

Albert is survived by two daughters, Sheila Petty Caldwell and husband Eric of Gastonia; Sandra Petty Hartsoe of Shelby; grandchildren, Lauren and Brent Caldwell of Charlotte; a sister, Helen Sowell and husband Ronnie of Lancaster, SC; nephews, Mitchell Greene of Hickory, Michael Greene and Mark Greene both of Lancaster, SC,

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 2:00 pm at in the Family Life Center at Patterson Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Tim Hendrick and Rev. Len Byers officiating. Burial will follow at Sandy Plains Baptist Church. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the Family Life Center.
