Alfred "Don" Donald Boyles, age 85, died Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Carolinas Healthcare Systems- Lincoln. He was born on February 12, 1930 in Lincoln County to the late Joseph Russell and Vera Pearl Howell Boyles. Don was formerly employed as a machinist for Ideal, Warner Swasey and Freightliner and was retired after 31 years from the Army Reserves. He was a faithful member of Puett United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn "Jo" Best Boyles and a brother, Hal Boyles.
Survivors include his children, Doug Boyles and wife, Glynnis of Bartlett, TN., and Rena Halk and husband, Billy of Bessemer City; grandson, Will Halk; brothers, Charles Boyles of Cherryville and Gary Boyles of Margate, FL.; sisters; Betty Jo Carlson and husband, David of Palm Coast, FL., Christine Scronce and husband, Bill of Asheville and Foxene Beaty and husband, Gene of Charlotte.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM Monday, February 1st, 2016 at Puetts United Methodist Church with Rev. Cliff Walls officiating. Burial will follow at Puetts United Methodist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00PM-8:00PM at the church and other times at 1246 Ratchford Dr. in Dallas.
