Anna Mangold Lysko

Anna Mangold Lysko (formerly of Shelby, NC) died Thursday, November 20, 2014, at Arbor Terrace Assisted Living in Asheville, NC.  She was 92 years old.

Born on July 5, 1922, in Hickman, KY, Anna was the daughter of the late George Bernard Mangold and Nell Wedding Mangold.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Elliot Lysko, and by a sister, Geneva Mangold of Hickman, KY, and a brother, Christopher Mangold of Somerset, KY.

 

Anna was a graduate of Sacred Heart School and Hickman High School in Hickman, KY.  After her marriage she lived in Stoughton, MA, and Brockton, MA, and moved to Shelby, NC, in 1957.  Until her move to Asheville in 2011, Anna was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Cleveland Country Club in Shelby.  She was an enthusiastic golfer and bridge player.

 

Anna is survived by her two children, Carol Stephens (Courtney) of Greensboro, GA, and Jane Isbey (Edward) of Asheville, NC.  She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Alex Stephens (Melanie Coyne) of Charlotte, NC; Jonathan Stephens (Alicia) of Raleigh, NC; Elizabeth Isbey of Washington, DC; and Sarah Hassouni (Daniel) of Denver, CO; and two great-grandchildren, Court Stephens and Grant Stephens, of Raleigh, NC.  She is also survived by two brothers, George Mangold of Columbia, TN, and Charles Mangold (Mary) of Cordova, TN; a sister, Charlotte Garrigan (Robert) of Hickman, KY; and many loving nieces, nephews, and in-laws, including Lee Lysko of Stoughton, MA, and Lydia Burnett (Francis) of Daytona Beach, FL.

 

The family gives special thanks to the caring staff at Arbor Terrace Assisted Living and the staff of CarePartners Hospice, especially Midge and Darlene, who all lovingly tended to Anna during her final days.

 

Visitation will be held at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory on Monday, November 24, 2014, from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M.  Funeral service will follow at the funeral home Chapel at 11:00 A.M., with Deacon James Trombley of St. Mary’s Catholic Church presiding.  Burial will be at Cleveland Memorial Park immediately following the service.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the American Heart Association 4217 Park Place Court Glen Allen, VA 23060 or to the Leona Neal Senior Center, 100 T.R. Harris Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.
