The Kosa retirees fished Lake Wylie last week, Mack Wyatt fished solo and got the win with 10.65. John Rankin and Tom Mayhew stepped out of their rocking chairs long enough to get second with 8.65. Ronnie Humphries fished solo as well and was third with 7.80. Big bass was a 3.40 largemouth brought in by David O’Shields and Doug Sparrow. This week it is back to Lake Norman and they shouldn’t have problems finding enough water to fish after this past weekend, as well as this week’s rain.

I’ve noticed that those of us who love the outdoors are always in the moment and yet are preparing for an upcoming moment. This time of year is especially true of this. While turkey season is in progress, I am thinking about getting my gear ready for the river and am also making plans on doing the things now that will give me an opportunity at a big buck this fall.
James Webb and his 7 year old son Will Webb, and his 16 year old step-daughter Caitlyn Ramey, caught these great cooters on a local pond. Will caught the “Big One” buried under the mud and pulled it out by hand with the help of his dad and sister after the cooter snapped his dad’s glove off.

Piecemakers Quilt Guild meets the first Wednesday of each month from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Lincoln County Senior Center, Lincoln Campus of Gaston College, 511 Aspen Street, Lincolnton, NC, in room 319. Maida Scruggs
Maida Scruggs was married to Horace Scruggs, Earl’s older brother, for 61 years. She was sixteen and he was nineteen when they went to Judge Roy Cobb in Gaffney and got married. Horace didn’t have a car but every weekend, beginning at the age of seventeen, he walked a few miles to visit Maida.
