Community Tent Revival, Kings Mountain

Pastors from Bethlehem Baptist, Oak Grove Baptist, Washington Missionary Baptist and David Baptist Churches have combined to hold a Tent Revival starting at 7:00pm Easter Sunday night, April 16, 2017. The meetings will continue nightly at 7:00pm through Thursday, April 20, 2017, at the corner of Bethware Rd. and Stoney Point Rd., across from Bethware School (Oak Grove/Waco exit off 74). In recent years, pastors in the area have been especially burdened for our community and have been praying for revival. Relay for Life

The Relay for Life events:

American Cancer Society Lincolnton, NC is holding its annual fundraising evening of events and celebration of survivors on Friday, May 5, 2017. Come ride your motorcycle on a 1 hour police escorted night group ride "BUG RUN" through Western Lincoln County, followed by our lap of lights and thunder around the stadium track that excites all the spectators. The Ride will start and end at the Relay event held at the Lincolnton High School Stadium. First sticker is $10, additional are $5. Upon completion of the ride, the bike with the most bug splats on the sticker wins $100 cash prize. Registration 6:30-8:30pm. Kickstands up 9:00pm. All brands of motorcycle manufacturers are encouraged to participate.

The Firemen and women of the South Mountain Fire Rescue are taking orders for a Boston Butt Meal for Easter. Orders are being taken until Friday, April 7, 2017. The Kings Mountain Historical Museum, 100 East Mountain Street, Kings Mountain, NC, invites you to join them on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, from 5:30pm-6:30pm! Rose Senehi will be discussing her novel, "Carolina Belle". You will never look at an apple the same way again after reading Rose Senehi's most recent book, Carolina Belle. The story follows Belle McKenzie, a botanist and farmer who is obsessed with creating a "billion dollar" apple she'll call the Carolina Belle, and determined to rekindle the love her obsession has nearly destroyed. Recommended ages 18+.

The museum will also have Public Sanning and Oral History Day on Thursday, April 20, 2017. Do you have family photos you'd like to digitize to preserve and share? Do you have stories to tell about Kings Mountain's history? KMHM invites the public to share their stories and photographs of the area's history, from family photos to stories about the textile mills and race car drivers. Videography and photo scanning will take place from 1:00-5:00pm. Admission is free for museum and event!

The Lattimore Museum

The Lattimore Historical Museum is now open on Sunday from 12:30 - 3:00. It can be opened on other days by appointment. The Museum features several areas of interest such as local businesses, churches, schools, home, and agricultural. A viewing area with videos of local historians and residents is continually playing. There is a special room dedicated to Martha Mason (iron lung patient) and author of the book Breath.

City of Kings Mountain Easter Egg Hunt

HOP on down to the annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 10:00am, for a Hoppy Good Time! 10,000 prize and candy eggs will be hidden across 3 sections of the Mayor Rick Murphrey Children's Park (next to the YMCA) 211 Cleveland Ave, Kings Mountain, NC 28086. Habitat for Humanity Cleveland County

Habitat is taking initial applications for its 2017 Home Build now through April 15, 2017. The applicant must be able to make no interest house payments of $475 to $550 a month, must have a real need for better housing, must live in Cleveland County, and must be willing to partner with Habitat by completing "sweat equity" on the home and by attending Homeowner Workshops. The typical Habitat home has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and is approximately 1100 square feet. Applications may be picked up at the Habitat ReStore, 323 W. Grover St., Shelby or to receive an application by mail, call the Habitat office at 704-482-6200. Anthony Vagnozzi is Outstanding Civil Air Patrol Cadet of the Year

On Tuesday, March 28th, 2017 the Shelby Civil Air Patrol selected one of their cadets for the Outstanding Cadet of the Year Award. They brought in the DAR (Daugthers of the American Revolution) to present this award and medal. This year's recipient was Senior Master Sergeant Anthony Vagnozzi, of Cleveland County.

Anthony Vagnozzi started in the CAP program in January of 2016 and has been a great example to his cadets. He is currently involved in multiple activities which include the Shelby Civil Air Patrol Squadron, 4-H serving as the West District Vice President, Boy Scout and now Eagle Scout with Troop 92, and a full time high school and college student. He hopes other youth will be encouraged and inspired by his example that they too can do great things.

The Civil Air Patrol is an auxiliary of the United States Air Force which was founded in December 1941. The Civil Air Patrol teaches youth leadership skills, character development, physical training, aerospace education, emergency services, and more. CAP is open to all youth ages 12-18 as well as adults.
