SHELBY - Arnold Walker of Shelby peacefully left this world at the age of 86 on Monday, April 30th at 9:00 pm. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Molly Lewis Walker and wife, Marilyn Coladner Walker..

Arnold is the beloved father of Jennifer Sue Walker of New York, Laurie Eileen Walker Baumgardner of Gardner-Webb University, North Carolina and Beth Jane Walker of Washington; his brother, James Walker of New York; niece, Michelle Walker Frontino; nephew Billy Walker and their children.

A native of Brooklyn, NY, he served his country first, then he served the Queens County Public School System as a third to fifth grade Math Teacher for 33 years, tutoring after retirement; during school breaks he served as a U.S. Customs Inspector for 25 years. An avid photographer and cyclist, he served his community through Police Athletic League, Boy Scouts and the Neighborhood watch. He was a Western Style Square Dance Caller and had a square dance club for the handicapable. He won many awards in his life and will be greatly missed. During his last four years in Shelby, North Carolina he loved attending Life Enrichment every day. Even in death he is a teacher - his body has been donated for Parkinson's research and a tree has been planted in his memory.

A military honors service will be held by the Rutherford County Honors Guard at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Robert Morgan Funeral and Cremation Service, LLC, 132 East College Avenue, Shelby, NC 28152.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a gift to Hospice or buy something from the Hospice Store. Also, show a teacher love.
