Arts & Humanities Explorers receive awards from WSGE

Participants from the Arts & Humanties Explorers program recently received awards from WSGE 91.7FM morning show personality, assistant program director/music director and independent film producer/director Tim Greene. Other speakers for the evening included WSGE's public affairs director Randy Walker and WSGE station manager Cathis Hall.
The Arts & Humanities Explorers Career and Education program introduces the multidisciplinary aspects of the arts to Gaston County high school students. The program provides career orientation experiences, leadership opportunities, field trips and community service activities. The primary goals of the program are to aid the students in developing their knowledge of the particular area or areas of interest in the arts and to introduce them to the career, teaching and entrepreneurship possibilities in the arts. The students are signed up for the program through the Scouts of America Exploring Program and after an orientation in September of each year, Gaston Arts Council has monthly meetings with the students from October to June. The Gaston Arts Council facilitates the Arts & Humanities Explorers Career and Education program.
