Austin Thomas Roberson, Jr., 89, of Eastwood Village Drive, Bostic, died on Monday, January 13, 2014 at Carolina’s Medical Center Northeast, Concord. A native of Rutherford County, he was born on July 03, 1924, a son of the late Austin T. Roberson, Sr., and Effie Cathy Roberson. He was a United States Navy Veteran having served in World War II in the Medical Corp on the U.S.S. Alabama. He was a member of Cliffside Baptist Church where he was a former deacon. He retired from Universal Films. He loved to cook, fish, whittle, go to his summer home in the NC Mountains and never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Toots” Parris Roberson; two sons, Royce Roberson and wife Sandy of Myrtle Beach, SC and Noyce Roberson & KayWallace of Peachland, NC; one daughter, Joyce Tate of Chesnee; one brother, Fred Roberson of Morganton; seven grandchildren; seventeen grandchildren; four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Cliffside Baptist Church with the Rev. Joey Cantrell and Rev. Lander Heffner officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 1:00pm-2:00pm prior to the service.
