Barbara Jean Martin Whitaker, age 60, of South Butler Street, Rutherfordton, died on Saturday, January 04, 2014 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. A native of Spartanburg County, South Carolina, she was born on August 22, 1953, a daughter of the late Carl W. and Grace Stacy Martin. She was a CNA was previously employed with Mill Spring Adult Care Facility. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church of Rutherfordton and the APA (American Poolplayers Association).
She is survived by her son, Vernon Taylor and wife Jennifer of Ellenboro; one sister, Rita Fletcher and husband Kevin; three grandchildren, Gage, Gwen, and Gavin Taylor.
A Celebration of Ms. Whitaker’s Life will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, January 09, 2014 at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Crawford and Rev. Randall Cooper officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the sanctuary.
