SHELBY - Benny Lee Gordon, 60, of Shelby, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017. Benny was proud to have been raised in Chicota, Texas, and grew up surrounded by his cousins that were as close as siblings. A lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, Benny enjoyed and participated in racing, rodeos and helping his mom and dad raise and train championship bird dogs. Benny was known as one of Cleveland County, N.C., most masterful carpenters, a trade he learned from his uncle. Benny was preceded in death by his father, Marion Gordon.

Benny leaves behind his children, Stacy, Ehrin, Leah, Erik, Brock, Amanda and Marty, his mother Etta Gordon, his sister Marjorie, family, friends and special companion, Billie Sue Rhom.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 6 p.m., on Friday, June 16, 2017, at the home of his dearest friends, David and Kathy Webber, 1116 Mt. Sinai Church Road, Shelby.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cecil Burton Funeral Home in Shelby, to help his children cover the cost of his final expenses.
