Beth Bridges Hamrick, 87, of Shelby, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at Hospice of Shelby.
Born February 16, 1930, in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late John Quay and Maggie Harrill Bridges. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, and mountain get-aways in search of antiques and decoy ducks. She was an avid church-goer with a deep faith in God and deep love for her family. Her caring nature carried over to her work as owner of Crest Day Care. Just like her own grandchildren, the little ones at daycare lovingly referred to her as "Granny."
In addition to her parents, Beth is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Harrill Hamrick, and three infant brothers.
Beth is survived by daughter Jane Brooks and husband Ben, son John Wake Hamrick and wife Gailya, and daughter Anne Butler and husband Doug. Beth was also the beloved Granny to seven grandchildren: Bill Brooks and wife Libby, Beth (Brooks) Scism and husband Marty, Amy (Hamrick) Goodrum and husband Dustin, Anna (Hamrick) Hunt and husband Jesse, Maggie (Butler) Marty and husband Trent, Adam Hamrick and wife Nicole, and Gina (Butler) Leon and husband Drew. She will also be fondly remembered by nine great-grandchildren: Hannah Brooks, Sarah Brooks, Salem Scism, Will Scism, Caroline Scism, Colt Goodrum, Casey Goodrum, Meredith Hunt, and Jay Caleb Hunt.
The family will receive friends at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 1 at Cleveland Funeral Services with service to follow at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Cleveland Funeral Services. A private burial will be held on Monday. Memorials can be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby NC 28150.
