Betty Jean Bridges Hughes of 396 E Butler Road, Ellenboro, NC, went home to be with Jesus Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Fair Haven Home. Betty Jean was born June 20, 1930 in Cleveland County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Hughes, her daughter, Janice Merrell, her grandson Blandon Merrell, her daddy Reverend Odell Bridges, her mama Clara Wilkerson Bridges, brothers, James, Horace, J.L., Obie, 2 infant brothers, also two sisters, Inez Miller and Frances Cooper.

She is survived by one brother Rev. Earl Bridges of Kings Mountain and many nieces, nephews and close loving friends.

Betty Jean was a member of Drury Dobbins Baptist Church. Betty Jean lived a larger part of her life in California. She loved to travel, gardening, gospel music and spending time with her friends and family.

At Betty Jean’s request, there are no services planned at this time.
