Betty (Maw B) Vassey, 79, of Kings Mountain, NC, received her abundant entrance through Heaven's Gate escorted by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 20, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born November 23, 1938 in Gaffney, SC to the late Boyce and Ollie Crowe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Eugene Vassey, 2 daughters, Gail Rippy and Shirley Canipe and a brother Samuel Howard Crowe.
She is survived by two children, Roy Philbeck and wife Leslie of Kings Mountain, NC, and Renea Mote and husband Robert of Kings Mountain, NC, and a sister Mary Lamb of Shelby, NC, 14 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren, and an amazing care-giver of several years, Michelle Hutchins
Maw B was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, friend to everyone she met, "to know her was to love her". She was a member of Way of the Cross Baptist Church in Shelby, NC where she enjoyed singing and testifying about her Jesus. She enjoyed reading her Bible and praying for others, spending time with her family, laughing and making memories. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children and grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 6pm - 8pm Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Cleveland Funeral Services. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 1:00 pm Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Way of the Cross Baptist Church, 226 Broad Street in Shelby. Burial will follow in Grover Cemetery.
