Betty Porter McSwain, age 89, died Thursday, September 13, 2018 at her home. Born in Spartanburg County SC on April 29, 1929 she was the daughter of the late Ralph Porter and Grace Tuck Porter. She was the co-owner and co-operator of G.T. McSwain Inc. for more than 50 years. She loved her community and the community loved her. Her spiritual life was very important to her and she held strong a faith and love for her Heavenly Father and spiritual family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, G.T. McSwain Jr., and one son Donald R. McSwain.

Betty is survived by three children, Randall McSwain of McGrady, Sandra Weaver of Boiling Springs and Neal McSwain of Boiling Springs, one sister, Vyral Bogan of Jonesville, SC and one brother Carroll Porter of Spartanburg, SC as well as seven grandchildren Karen McSwain and Brittany Cinquino, Larry McSwain, Charles McSwain, Tifani Dorsey, Brandi Davis and Chris McSwain.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation for her caretakers; Tifani Dorsey, Laura Thurmond, Veronica Schenck, Hospice of Cleveland County, Dr. Caunt, and his nurse Kim.

Funeral service will be held 11 am Tuesday September 18, 2018 in the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 am until 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park Cemetery.
