Betty Sue Shull Williams

Betty Sue Shull Williams, beloved mother, passed away at Wendover Hospice on November 8, 2017, with her daughters by her bedside. Born in Lincoln County on May 13, 1932, she was the daughter of John Clifton and Jane Marie Peeler Shull. She retired from Esther Mill in 1993 after more than 30 years of service. Known for her green thumb, she was happiest when working outside and had a passion for gardening and tending her flowerbeds. She enjoyed canning and preserving and shared the fruits of her labor with many people. She will long be remembered for her fresh baked biscuits and homemade pear and fig preserves and blackberry jam. With a strong work ethic, she was an inspiring role model for her children and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James L. Williams, Sr.; her sons, Paul R. Shull and Jimmy Williams; her sister, Lorene Shull Beam; and her eight brothers: Caldwell, JD, Vernon, Warren, John Jr., Ralph, Pete, and Jerry Shull.

Left to cherish her memories are her four daughters, Carolyn Panther and husband Rick of Shelby, Jessica Thomas and husband Chris of Shelby, Beverly Henderson and husband Todd of Shelby, Bobbie Kale and husband Mike of Shelby; a brother, Bill Shull; two daughters-in- law, Shirley Shull of Waco and Darlene Williams of Canton; nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 10 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Will Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 1:00 - 2:00 pm.
