Bettye Fay Cox Gosey
Bettye Fay Cox Gosey, age 69, of Forest City, died Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born May 18, 1948 in Shelby County, Tennessee, she was a daughter to the late John W. Cox and Elizabeth Watts Cox. She was a graduate of East Rutherford High School, class of 1968 and worked for various local companies. Most recently, she worked many years for Doyle Foods as a security guard. She was a volunteer for the Rutherford County Traffic Control for ten years and was a member of Alexander United Methodist Church. Bettye enjoyed gardening and fishing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-one years, Carson Lee Gosey, Sr.; son, John Carson Gosey; two sisters, Evon Cox Bridges and Mattie Jean Cox Murray.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Carson Lee Gosey, Jr. of Kernersville, NC; daughter, Lesley Gosey Lovelace (Teddy) of Forest City; three sisters, Kathy Cox Payne (Rob) of Forest City, Brenda Cox Ledbetter (Scott) also of Forest City and Shirley Cox Cooke (Joe) of Morganton; two step-daughters, Chyrl Gosey Parker (Jimmy) of Spartanburg, SC and Donna Gosey Holland of Forest City and a brother, Garland Cox of Cleveland County. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jacob Bennett (Kayela), Taylor Bennett, Dylan Gosey and Aubrey Gosey; great-grandchild, Riley Bennett; four step-grandchildren, Micheal Long, Sr. (Rosalee), Ricky Long, Christie Ingel (Clint), Brandy Sisk; five step-great-grandchildren, Brook Michaels, Micheal Long, Jr., Carson Clark, Kelsey Ingel and Lillian Sisk.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the Alexander Cemetery with Dr. Reverend John James Powell, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service at the cemetery. At other times they will be gathered at 271 Allen Drive, Forest City, NC 28043.
