Surprise Party Held For Auburn’s Charlie Harbison
Seated at the head table with "Coach Cheese" is former GWU Coash Woody Fish.
Charlie Edward Harbison, Auburn University’s defensive back coach and co-defensive coordinator, a graduate of Gardner-Webb University got a big surprise at the football facility at GWU on Saturday evening, January 11th.
To a man that definitely doesn’t like surprises, a collection of coaches, family and friends greeted him at a surprise party given by his wife, Tammy. It was in honor of Auburn winning the SEC Championship and getting a chance to play for the NCAA national title against Florida State, who won narrowly 34-31.
Coach “Cheese”, so named because Charlie is always smiling, was praised and acknowledged by men who know and admire him. A celebratory dinner followed. He was also presented a special plaque which read: “Congratulations to our own Charlie Harbison for coaching in the 2014 BCS National Championship game. We are so proud of your accomplishments. From your family, friends and community.” It was a very special occasion and, of course, all Charlie could do was smile!
