Bill Garrity, age 92, of Lowell, NC, died Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
Bill was born February 24, 1926 in Hillside, New Jersey, he was a so of the late William Garrity, Sr. and Bertha Oschelegar. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Navy on a Destroyer Transport. Bill owned and operated Correct Temp Heating and Cooling for many years. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed remodeling homes and selling real estate. Bill was a kind and gracious man who loved his family dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Claire Smith Garrity; his mother who raised him, Otilia Oschelegar
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Freda Baldwin Garrity; daughter, Jill Krauss and husband, Bob of New Jersey; son, Bill Garrity and wife, Carol of St. Mary's, Georgia; two step-sons, Dale Conner and wife, Sandi of Lowell and Steve Stacy and wife, hope of Jacksonville, Florida and step-daughter, Wanda Jones of Palm Beach, Florida; one sister, Shirley Garrity. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Providence United Methodist Church with Reverend David Bradley officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time in the Family Life Center. There will also be a memorial service in New Jersey to celebrate Bill's life for friends and family to pay respects in the near future.
