Bill Hines, age 76, of Forest City, NC, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at his residence.
Born December 3, 1940 in Rutherford County, he was a son to the late Willis Hines and Alice Ruppe Hines. He was a graduate of Tri-High School and also attended Western Piedmont Community College. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and proudly served as a North Carolina State Trooper for twenty-five years before his retirement. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and enjoyed repairing computers, trading cars, and taking trips in the motor home with his family. Bill was dedicated to his family and loved spending time with them.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Max Hines.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of fifty-six years, Patricia Smiley Hines; two daughters, Donna Hines of Forest City and Deborah Jordan and husband, Michael of Sumter, SC; two sons, Mitchell Hines and wife, Mariel of York, SC and Billy Hines of Forest City; one brother, Willis Wayne Hines of Panama City, FL and a sister, Vaunda Hendricks and husband, Jeff of Greensboro, NC; a daughter-in-law, Marie Matheny also of Forest City. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Christopher Tomblin, Tristan Callahan, Joshua Callahan, James Callahan, Abby Hines, Kelcey Hines, Audrey Hines, Savannah Jordan, Haleigh Jordan, Madelyn Jordan, Tasha Michaels; four great-granchildren, Harle Tomblin, Liberty Tomblin, Carly Michaels and Eric Michaels.
The memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
