Broad River Greenway Hosts Annual Easter Egg Hunt

The Broad River Greenway offers opportunities year-round for families including special events like the annual Easter Egg Hunt and Exploration Day. This year, the free event for the public takes place on Sunday, March 25, 2018, with festivities beginning at 2:00 p.m. with photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny and interactive activities. There are three (age separated trails) offering fun for all ages. "We 'hide' approximately 4000 eggs at this fun-filled event, so come prepared to spend a wonderful afternoon in the woods. This is a community favorite and one of my personal favorites," said Broad River Greenway Director, Kim Duren. "We have been hosting the Easter Bunny at Phifer Cabin for over 18 years, and over the years the event has evolved, but one thing stays the same, tons of fun for everyone."
Volunteers hide empty eggs and have the kids bring the eggs to a candy station to trade them for bags of candy. Dr. Tom Jones and the Gardner-Webb University Biology Honors Students have been involved with this event for several years and assist the Easter Bunny with the candy and the egg operation.
Families may bring a camera and grab a photo of their children with the Easter Bunny; the Easter Bunny is available for pictures before and after the egg hunt. The egg hunting is at 3:00 p.m. to give kids a chance to see the Bunny and explore the hands-on activity tables. All are encouraged to bring a bag or basket to collect eggs and the candy treasures home.
