Carol Jones McMurry, 81, of 876 E. Zion Church Road, Shelby, died Wednesday,
January 25, 2012 at Kings Mountain Hospice House in Kings Mountain.

Born in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Grady Herman and Selva
Mae Johnson McMurry.  Mr. McMurry was a member of Blessed Way Baptist Church
and a former deacon at Wallace Grove Baptist Church.  He retired from the
maintenance department with the NC Department of Transportation.  He enjoyed
the outdoors and working in his garden and with animals.

In addition to his parents, Mr. McMurry was preceded in death by two
brothers, Bill and Raye McMurry.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Hattie McSwain McMurry;
three brothers and a sister-in-law,  James McMurry, David and Shirley
McMurry, and Larry McMurry all of Shelby; sister and her husband, Gail and
Tim Pits of St. Petersburg, FL; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ruby
Ward of Casar and Jerry and Shirley Bridges; Dale and Wanda McSwain, Mrs.
Bill (Shirley) McMurry all of Shelby and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 Friday at Stamey Funeal
Home in Fallston.  At other times the family will be at the home of Jerry
and Shirley Bridges, 1309 Crestview Drive, Shelby.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Blessed Way Baptist Church in
Lawndale with Revs. Tommy Cook and Jack Waters officiating.  Burial will
follow at Wallace Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  The body will be placed in
the church thirty minuetes prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
