Carol Rae Anderson Gappa, age 85, died Friday, November 10, 2017 at her home in Shelby. Carol was born in Swea City, Iowa on October 31, 1932 to the late Raymond M. Anderson and Helen G. Saunders Anderson. Carol went to work for Mankato State University in Minnesota as a secretary and while working received her college degree and also did family counseling for a period of time. Carol had a great love for music and played the guitar, piano and organ and she was a professional singer in the 1970's-1980's.

In addition to her parents, Carol is preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Anderson and a sister, Gloria Anderson.

Carol is survived by a cherished friend, Louis Alva, two sons, John S. Gappa and wife Angela of Mankato, MN and Mark J. Gappa and his wife Ginger of South Carolina; four daughters, Karen L. Lewis and her husband Mark of Palmer, AK; Kristi L. Gappa and friend Mike Young of Ellijay, GA; Robyn Francis and her husband Kenneth of Shelby, and Rebecca A. Morgan of Los Angeles, CA; and a sister, Diane Walth of Mesa, AZ.
