Charley Boyd Dellinger
Charley Boyd Dellinger, 84, of Crouse School Rd., died November 18, 2015 at Carolina Healthcare Systems-Lincoln. He was born in Lincoln County on June 4, 1931 to the late Ernest and Ivey Devine Dellinger. Mr. Dellinger was a member of Crouse United Methodist Church and an Army veteran of Korea. He was the owner of C. B. Dellinger Grocery for 45 years, enjoyed people, gardening, and growing tomatoes. Boyd found great pleasure in raising rabbit dogs, rabbit hunting, and participating in the Lincoln County Farmers Market.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by siblings Sue George, Margaret Dellinger, Lena Cody, Frank Dellinger and Ted Dellinger.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Bertha Beatrice Watts Dellinger; daughter, Shelia Dellinger of the home; son, Danny Dellinger and wife Letha of Crouse; three grandchildren, Danielle D. Brown and husband Chris, of Crouse, Michele D. Franklin and husband Zach, of Crouse, and D. J. Dellinger and companion and also Boyd's caregiver Megan Bumgarner, of Crouse; four great grandchildren, Brianna and Blake Brown, and Timmy and Kenzleigh Franklin; sister, Jane Bost and husband Rev. Darrell of Crouse, and brother, Jerry Pope of Crouse.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Carpenter's Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Darrell Bost and Rev. Jerry Lail officiating with burial in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday at the funeral home from 12:00 to 1:45 PM and other times at the home.
