Children's Homes of Cleveland County receives donation from Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation

Shelby, NC - Children's Homes of Cleveland County has received $2,000 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help provide for young people preparing for independence. Children's Homes will use the gift to purchase groceries and supplies for the transitional apartments that will be opening in February for young people, age 18-21 who are moving out of foster care.
Board Chair Justin Merritt says, "On behalf of the Board of Directors of Children's Homes of Cleveland County, we are extremely grateful to Food Lion for their generous $2,000 Passage Place grant. This grant will allow the independent living apartments to be fully furnished with groceries and supplies when the homes are occupied. We simply could not achieve these goals without such strong support from our community partners. We truly appreciate this gift and know that it will have a positive impact on the lives of young adults in Cleveland County."
Established in 2001, the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding the hungry in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $12 million in grants.
