SHELBY: Cliff Owens, 89. Died Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Wendover Hospice. A native of Cleveland Co., he was born to the late Dexter and Essie Mae Johnson Owens. He proudly served his country in the Air Force. He was a true man of God who was dedicated to his church family and a loving husband and father. He was a longtime member of Shelby Freewill and then Crestview Baptist. For over 28 years he traveled playing gospel music in groups with his guitar. He will be truly missed. The family would like to thank all of the staff of Wendover Hospice.

PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Wayne and Jerry Owens; brothers, Jessie, Boyd, Bill, and Eddie Owens; sisters, Cristine Cline and Lona Mae Craig

SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Zula Craig Owens, of the home; son Randy Owens; daughter Gail Ellis, both of Shelby; sisters, Martha Owens of Shelby and Lisa Shelton of Danbury; 11 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and best friends Leroy and Wilma Beheler.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home

GRAVESIDE SERVICES: will be held at 3:00 PM at Cleveland Memorial Park with military honors.
