Clyde Wray Wesson

Clyde Wray Wesson, 63, of Shelby passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Born August 17, 1951 in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Purvis I. And Mae Allen Wesson. He was raised in Cleveland County and graduated from Crest High School and Gardner-Webb University. His compassion for all people led him to many job opportunities. He was the owner and operator of "The Village Pantry," former owner of "Crest Chevron," and owned an RC Cola Bottling Company Franchise. He also worked at the Riverbend Golf Club. He was an advocate and supporter of children during his time as a teacher assistant and tutor at Boiling Springs Elementary School. He was an avid sports enthusiast and supported teams ranging from high school and college athletics to watching his grandkids, nieces, nephews, and friends play ball.

Survivors include the joy of his life, his daughter, Sally Wesson Hamrick, and husband John E. Hamrick, his beloved grandchildren, Brett Morgan Hamrick, John William "Will" Hamrick, Samantha Grace Hamrick and Holly Lauren Hamrick, four brothers: Purvis A. Wesson and wife Mary Jane, John Wesson and wife Doris, Dan Wesson and wife Antionne, and Joel Wesson; three sisters Brenda Gardner and husband Hal Sr., Jessie Hedrick and husband Karl Jr., and Gailya Hamrick and husband John Wake Hamrick. He is also survived by 14 special nieces and nephews, and 28 great-nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Poplar Springs Baptist Church on Saturday, March 21 at 10 am prior to the funeral at 11 am. Burial will follow at the Poplar Springs Church Cemetery. Arrangements are being made by Cleveland Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to " Pennies for Asher" through Boiling Springs Elementary School or to the Crest High School Athletics Department.
