Curtis McKinley Martin Sr.

Blacksburg -- Mr. Curtis McKinley Martin Sr., 85, passed away on November 6, 2018 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, he was the son of the late Covis and Mae Bolin Martin. Curtis retired from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department, was a member of Buffalo Lodge #202 AFM and the South Carolina Sheriff's Association, and he was a veteran of the United States Army.

Surviving Mr. Martin are three daughters, Linda Steward and husband, Elbert, of Blacksburg, Cheryl Coffey and husband, Roger, of Mt. Holly, NC, and Renee Blanton and husband, Larry, of Blacksburg; two sons, Curtis Martin Jr. and wife, Janet, and Rick Martin, all of Blacksburg; a brother, Ken Ellis, and wife, Ruth, of Chesnee; a sister, Daris Martin O'Brien, of Salter Path, NC; a special friend, Peggy Childers, of Blacksburg; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rebecca Moss Martin, and a grandson, Knox Douglas Hambright Jr.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 8th, at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will he held on Friday, November 9th, 2018, at 3:00 PM at Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. Gregg Martin and Rev. Quitmann Hann officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will be at the home of Rick Martin, 697 Martin Hill Road, Blacksburg.
