Dean Cogdell, age 61, of Highway 120, Mooresboro, NC, died Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Born January 25, 1953 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Oscar Cogdell and Nancy Hoyle Cogdell. Dean worked as a dry wall installer for several years and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed watching westerns and sports. Dean also enjoyed golfing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Chad Cogdell and nine brothers.
Survivors include, Debbie Cogdell; daughter, Deana Grant and husband, David of Mooresboro; three step-daughters, Misti Byers of Mooresboro, Dee Dee Waters of Forest City and Joleen Radford and husband, David also of Mooresboro; brother, Clete Cogdell and wife, Tracy of Rutherfordton and sister, Judy Cogdell of Forest City. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Justin Bolick, Tyler Bolick, Trent Waters, Damien Byers, Kaine Byers, Austin Radford, Sherena Suttle; great granddaughter, Serenity Suttle and two special nephews, Jerry Cogdell and Dylan Cogdell.
A memorial service will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April10, 2014 at Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend John Godfrey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
Memorial donations are suggested to Harrelson Funeral Home, 1251 US Highway 221A, Forest City, NC to help defray funeral costs.
