Debbie Fisher Payseur
Debbie Fisher Payseur of Cherryville, North Carolina died at home on July 23, 2018, after a year-long illness. She was born on March 22, 1953, in Shelby, North Carolina. Her parents are Shirley Whitaker Fisher and the late Bob Fisher. Debbie graduated from Cherryville High School and University of North Carolina-Greensboro with a BS in nursing. She was a Registered Nurse.
Debbie worked as a Registered Nurse, a substitute teacher and the distance learning facilitator at Cherryville High School until she retired. While at Cherryville High School, she facilitated classes in various subjects including marine biology and Latin. For the benefit of her students, she learned all of the Latin course work. Debbie was a very caring person who was always willing to help when there was a need, especially when it involved children. She handmade quilts for newborns, made and distributed chicken casseroles to numerous individuals at Christmas and other times of the year, and often gave money to complete strangers she thought might be in need. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Cherryville, and a member of Sigma Conclave of the Kappa Kappa Iota National Teacher's Sorority.
Debbie's passion in life was her family. Becoming a grandmother was a major highlight in her life. She often stated that being "Yaya" was the best job she ever had and with six grandchildren it was truly a job that was a labor of love.
Debbie is survived by her husband, Mickey Payseur; Ben Payseur (son) and wife, Jennifer of Conover, North Carolina; Jenny Emerson (daughter) and husband, Brian of Cherryville, North Carolina; grandchildren Mallie Ann Emerson, Mikki Jane Emerson, Megan Elaine Emerson, Elizabeth Anne Payseur, Eli James Payseur, and William Wade Payseur; and Shirley W. Fisher (mother).
The family will receive friends at First United Methodist Church, Cherryville, North Carolina on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 5:30 until 8:00 PM and other times at the home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, Cherryville, North Carolina. Rev. Joe Collins and Rev. Will Upchurch officiating. Burial will follow at the City Memorial Cemetery.
