Dolores Lavon Pope Hill
Dolores Lavon Pope Hill went to be with the Lord on August 6, 2018 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center in Shelby, North Carolina where she had been a resident for the past year. Dolores was born on August 8, 1934 in Dierks, Arkansas to Harold and Imogene Pope. She lived in Central Texas most of her life. She worked as waitress and as a nurse's aide in long-term care centers. She was a resident of Cisco, TX for many years where she attended the Calvary Baptist Church. In 2014 she moved to Forest City, NC to live with her daughter Mary Ann. She attended Bethel Baptist Church in Shelby, NC where she enjoyed traveling with the Senior Adults while her health allowed. She enjoyed music, watching Western movies, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, her sons Everett Stubbs and his wife Alice of New Braunfels, TX; Johnny Stubbs and his wife Elaine of Abilene, TX; and Stewart Farquhar and his wife Rose of Little Rock, AR; by her daughters Suzette White and her husband John of Cisco, TX; and Mary Ann Funchess and her husband Dan of Forest City, NC. She is also survived by her sister, Sue Dyer of Colbert, OK. Also surviving are 12 Grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister Nelwin Yockey; her brothers, Robert Pope, Conrad Pope, Jerry Pope, and Randell Pope; she was also preceded in death by three husbands Gene Stubbs, Ples Hill, and Mack Farquhar.
Visitation will be held at the Bethel Baptist Church on Wednesday from 5-6 p.m. in the Church Sanctuary. Friends may visit the family in Cisco, TX at Kimbrough Funeral Home on Friday, August 10th from 5-7 p.m. Graveside Services will be held at the Oakwood Cemetery in Cisco, TX at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 11th with Rev. Ronnie Shakelford officiating. Her grandchildren will be serving as Pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of Dolores. Donations may be mailed to 606 South Dekalb Street, Shelby, NC 28150.
