Don Elias Greene, 80, passed away on July 15, 2014 at Peak Resources of Shelby.  Born in Cleveland County on January 6, 1934, he was the son of the late Samuel Monroe Greene, Sr. and Ollie Mae Skinner Greene.  He was also preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Helen Greene Greene and his brother Samuel Monroe Greene, Jr.  Mr. Greene was a retired bookkeeper from Suburban Propane after 26 years of service.  He was a member of Sandy Run Baptist Church where he served as a former Deacon.  He was also a member of the Friendship Masonic Lodge No.388 AF & AM, where he served as secretary for 25 years, and served on the town council of Mooresboro. Don enjoyed watching television, playing on the computer, and repairing antique clocks. 

Don is survived by his two daughters, Phyllis Susan Greene Garrett and husband Grady of Palm Harbor, Florida, and Sandra Gail Greene Lail and husband Alan of Mt. Pleasant, SC; grandchildren, Erin Garrett, Stuart Garrett and wife Mellinna, Morgan Lail Rice and husband Darrell, and Shannon Lail.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Sandy Run Baptist Church.  The Rev. Andrew Rawls and Dr. Tim Hendrick will be officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full Masonic rites by Friendship Masonic Lodge No.388 AF & AM.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary.
