Donald Lee Searcy, 83, of Lawndale, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017
at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby.
Born in Rutherford County on September 24, 1934, he was a son of the late
Ben Searcy and Lelia Smith Searcy. He was retired from Bernhardt Furniture
Shelby Plant and was the Owner and Operator of Searcy Repair in Fallston.
Donald was also a member of Lawndale Baptist Church where he had taught
Sunday School, RAs, and Junior Deputies, and worked with the Baptist Men and
the Boy Scotts. He also served in the US Army National Gaurd.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of
fifty-eight years Maude Stephens Searcy; son David Searcy; and two sisters,
Peggy Griffin and Laura Gibbs.
He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis Searcy of Shelby,
Mark and Judy Searcy of Fallston, and Scott and Jessica Searcy of Kings
Mountain; brother, Joe Searcy of Gilkey; seven grandchildren and spouses,
Benjamin Searcy of Lincolnton, Michael and Jessica Searcy of Shelby, Rebecca
Butler of Shelby, Donnie Searcy of Rutherfordton, Kinslee Searcy of Kings
Mountain, Trent Edwards of Kings Mountain, and Micah Edwards of Kings
Mountain; six great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at
Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home, Fallston.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 PM in the Stamey-Tysinger
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Kilby officiating. At other times the
family will be at the home of Mark and Judy Searcy, 124 Wells Street,
Lawndale, NC 28090.
The burial will follow the service in the Rose Hill Memorial Park.
