SHELBY - Donald "Peanut" Wayne Costner, 73, passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Atrium Healthcare of Charlotte. He is predeceased by his parents, Leonard and Jeanette H. Costner from Shelby; grandparents, Robert and Elizabeth Costner from Shelby; grandparents, Jake and Gertie Holtzclaw from Shelby.

Donald leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife, Bobbie E. Costner of Shelby; daughters, Holly Costner of Hong Kong and Jessica McSwain of Wilmington, NC; grandsons, Brody McSwain of Wilmington NC and Beau McSwain of Wilmington; granddaughter, Brooke McSwain, of Wilmington NC.

He graduated from Shelby High School in 1966, served in United States Air Force SSgt from June 1966 to April 1970, went to Gardner Webb in 1991 and received his Associates Degree in Business. He retired from Fiber Industries, Inc. after working there for 34 years (1971-2005) and he also worked for the City of Shelby Public Works for 16 years.

Peanut enjoyed fishing, walking, hiking, LOVED Broad River Greenway, he never met a stranger, was kind-hearted and funny. He was a wonderful husband, father and Paw-Paw.

Memorial Services are to be planned for June, 2021 date will be announced.
