Dorothy Byars Hambright Mullinax

Dorothy Byars Hambright Mullinax, 85, of 223 Tiffany Park, Gaffney, formerly of 313 Oak Grove Road in Blacksburg, passed away Monday, July 20th, 2015, at Magnolias of Gaffney.

Born in Blacksburg, she was the widow of Forest Mullinax and the daughter of the late Charles Byars and Lula Painter Byars. Mrs. Mullinax retired from working in textiles and was a member of Nazareth Baptist Church. She loved cooking for family and friends.

Mrs. Mullinax is survived by two sons, Knox Hambright (Laura) and Cleve Hambright (Rita) of Blacksburg; one daughter, Vickie H. White (Bobby) of Gaffney; seven grandchildren, Missy White, Christy Phillips, Dottie Starnes, Jennifer Butler, and Douglas Hambright, all of Blacksburg, and Jeff Hambright and Jason White, both of Gaffney; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Kyrk Hambright; five brothers, Buford (Boots), Lawson, Walter, Woodrow, and Ervin Byars, and four sisters, Mamie Crosby, Mattie Rumfelt, Lucille Bright, and Wilma Kyrkendall.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2015, from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, SC 29702. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 23rd, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Nazareth Baptist Church, 1156 99 Island Rd., Blacksburg, SC 29702 with Rev. Gregg Martin and Rev. Lucky Earls officiating. Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens. Jason White, Douglas Hambright, Sam Rumfelt, Ken Wray, J.D. Heffner, and Mack Byars will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus, 212 Floyd Baker Blvd, Gaffney, SC 29340.

The family would like to express their thanks to special friend Cecil Martin and to the staff of Magnolias of Gaffney.

The family will be at the residence at 313 Oak Grove Road.
