Dorothy "Dot" Bridges Curtis

Dorothy "Dot" Bridges Curtis, age 88, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Hospice Wendover. Born in Cleveland County on January 8, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Lee and Ocie Cooper Bridges. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Dot was a seamstress at Hamrick Industries. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Curtis is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Bennie Lee Curtis; two brothers, Frank Bridges and Charles Bridges; two sisters, Ruby Laws and Wilda Bridges; and a son-in-law Sherrill Dover.

Mrs. Curtis is survived by one son, Ben Curtis and his wife Dorothy of Grover; three daughters, Pat Crego and husband Ron of Cowpens, SC., Jean Walker of Shelby, and Eilene Emory and husband Ricky of Kings Mountain; three sisters, Trib Ellis and husband Bill of Grover, Delores Adams of Spartanburg, and Marie Hoyle of Cherryville; a brother, Forrest Bridges and wife Dot of Cherryville; a brother-in-law, Ray Bridges of Shelby; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Bridges of Shelby; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren and special friends, Bill and Shirley Williams of Shelby.

Graveside service will be held on Friday April 22, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Cleveland Memorial Park with Rev. Mike Owen, Rev. Johnny Owens and Ray Bridges officiating. The family will receive friends at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory from 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm, and other time at the home of Ben and Dorothy Curtis, 2619 Cleveland Ave, Grover NC 28073.
