Dorothy Elizabeth Greene Lynch

Dorothy Elizabeth Greene Lynch, died Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Ally’s Cove Assisted Living in White Oak Manor, Kings Mountain.

A native of Shelby, NC, she was born on a bright and beautiful Saturday morning, July 25, 1922 to Lewis Hanson and Alice Elizabeth Bridges Greene.  She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by ten siblings Eunice Houser, Veda Richards, Virginia Flack, Essie Capps, Dever Greene, Ruth Edwards, Leo Greene, Hubert, Greene, Pansy Greene, and a still birth sibling.  Dorothy was the youngest child born to this union

Mrs. Lynch is survived by children Freda Gibbs and husband Arnold, Woodrow Wilson “Woody” Lynch, Jr., Lem Lynch, Hyman Lynch, and Audrey Ashe and husband Gary all of Shelby.  Also surviving are four grandchildren Tia Gibbs Dabboussi and husband Rabih and great grandchildren Maryam, Abdel Rahman, Fatima, and Adam all from Dubai, U.A.E.; Deana Ashe McSwain and husband Jeremy and great grandchildren Kellan and Ella all from Moscow, Russia; Travis Ashe and wife Jill and great granddaughters Marissa and Miley all of Fort Mill, SC.; Tyler Ashe and wife Stephanie and great grandsons Garrison and Preston all of Shelby.

Dorothy walked on for many years with hope in her heart.   She loved her mother and father with great furver.  She raised her five children, while we listened; hope was we took it to heart.  Children, babies, they made her the happiest.  She’d follow with her eyes, smile and one could tell she was tinking what she might figure out their silent thoughts were.

Children, that green thumb she possed.  Clouds that we made objects out of, the smallest of the small she could find.  Talk on and things get larger, her first time seeing a dirigible.  Let’s not forget the Northern Lights, the contrails, rainbows, sundogs, Aurora Borealis.  Nature, nature, and more nature.  Birds especially.  National Georgraphic her favorite book along with all the nature channels.

Now to all her nieces and nephews, she loved you ALL so much.  And let’s thank Dr. Brent Ferrell, Dianne and all of their supporting staff at Shelby Medical Associates could not have done it without you.  To Ally’s Cove at White Oak in Kings Mountain, you came along for us at the most needed time.  Dr. Perkins, you all did a great job in assisting while we traveled this journey together.

Now that wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother is playing all the pianos and organs to her liking.  No need for sheet music, she played it all by ear and marvelously, I might add.
