Mrs. Dorothy W. White, 90 of Shelby, NC, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Wendover Hospice House.
She is survived by her children, A.V. White, Jr. and wife Donna of Caser, NC, Shirley Hughes of Shelby, NC, Jack White and wife Revonda of Fallston, NC, Patsy Steffey and husband Randy of Lattimore, NC, and Paul White and wife Connie of Polkville, NC, fourteen grandchildren, Jennifer Brackett and husband Buddy of Caser, NC, Jessica Dorothy Newton and husband John of Caser, NC, Teresa Hughes of Shelby, NC, Amy Nordan and husband Jeremy of Shelby, NC, Kellie Hughes of Shelby, NC, Katie Hughes of Fallston, NC, Veronica Schwartz and husband Mike of Georgetown, SC, Dionne Maddison and husband Chris of Lawndale, NC, Tammy Renea Steffey of Polkville, NC, Samuel Steffey and wife Megan of Morganton, NC, Steven Steffey of Lattimore, NC, Leann Steffey of Lattimore, NC, Cody White of Polkville, NC, and Colby White of Polkville, NC, ten great grandchildren, Rocky Lee Brackett, Michael Newton, Tanner Lamb, Eli Hughes, Joseph Schwartz, Amber Hawkins, Michael Hawkins, Jayden Farrar, Alexis Steffey, and William Riley Steffey, two great great grandchildren, Isabella Schwartz and Landon Keller, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born August 7, 1926 in Cleveland County, Mrs. White was the daughter of the late John and Jessie Burleson Willis and was preceded in death by her husband, A.V. White, Sr., two grandsons, Jason Mathew White and Joshua O'Brien White, three brothers, Dan Willis, Frank Willis and Fred Willis and four sisters, Florence White, Lillian Morrison, Edna Nodine, and Nell Morrison.
Dorothy was a good Christian woman and mother who loved to cook. She was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and special songs for the congregation. Mrs. White worked at Firestone in Gastonia and later worked and retired from Sackville Mill as a spinner and spin doffer. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, reading the Bible and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Dorothy always brought a smile to your face will be missed by those that knew and loved her.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Morning Star Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Keith Linzy. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
