Blacksburg -- Mr. Doyle Wayne Peterson, 73, of 204 S. Chester St., passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018, at his home.

Born in Blacksburg, he was the husband of Joann Ledbetter Peterson and the son of the late Vernon and Irene Maynor Peterson. Doyle retired from Michelin and was a member of Cherokee Falls Baptist Church. He also served in the United States Navy, where he served two tours in Vietnam on various ships, including the USS Enterprise.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Peterson is survived by three daughters, Amanda Gibson of Blacksburg, Kelly Speight of Evans, GA, and Carla Atkins of Hanford, CA; one son, Steven Peterson, of Blacksburg; two sisters, Frances Gibson and Gladys Tindall, both of Blacksburg; eleven grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joey Peterson, and four brothers, Jack, Lloyd "Bub," C.B., and Gary Dean Peterson.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, 18th of November, 2018, from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Tim Knotts and Mr. Steven Blanton officiating. Interment will be at Clingman Memorial Gardens.
