MOBILE, AL – Elizabeth Betty Yoder Dawson, age 90, of Mobile, AL and formerly of Shelby, NC, went home to be with the Lord on December 17, 2014 at Mobile Nursing and Rehabilitation.

      Born April 1, 1924 in Catawba County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Grady Peter and Lizzie Kate Asherbranner Yoder. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dawson was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Willie “Bill” Dawson.

She was a graduate of the Children’s Hospital School of Nursing and the Shelby Hospital School of Nursing and a member of the United States Cadet Nurse Corps. Mrs. Dawson retired after many years of service from Cleveland Regional and Kings Mountain Hospitals. She was member of Lafayette Street United Methodist Church for over 40 years.

      Survivors include her sons, Michael Stephen Dawson and wife Pat of Mobile, AL, David William Dawson and wife Betty of Shelby, NC; grandchildren, Lisa Dawson Foster and husband Billy of Spartanburg, SC, Grady William Dawson and wife Denise of Mobile, AL, David William Dawson, Jr. and wife Mary of Morganton, NC; great-grandchildren, Robert Lane Yates and Drake Alexander Dawson; multiple step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

      A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel with Rev. Arthur Holland officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
