Shelby - Mrs. Elsie Mae White Whitaker, 97 of Fallston Road, passed away May
11, 2016 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center.

Born May 5, 1919 in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Jake
White and Epsie Wilburn White. She was retired from J.P. Stevens and was a
member of Mull's Memorial Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Burgin
Columbus Whitaker; a son, Donald Whitaker; a son-in-law, Johnny Scism;
grandson-in-law, Dale Angel; two brothers, Ralph White and Reece White and
three sisters, Hattie Hord, Novella Dantzler and Bessie Hager.

Survivors include a daughter, Gay Scism of Shelby; daughter-in-law, Judith
Whitaker; five grandchildren,Trina Angel, Wesley Whitaker, Brian Whitaker,
John Scism and Beth McCoy; twelve great grandchildren and one great-great
grandchild.

A private graveside service was held at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
