Emmett Harvey Rogers, Sr

SHELBY-WWII Veteran, Emmett Harvey Rogers, Sr. age 95, from Shelby, made a permeant move on August 23, 2015 from Summit Place Assisted Living Mooresville, N.C. to be with his Father in Heaven. He was born in Cleveland County on February 21, 1920 to the late Leabron Rogers, Sr. and Mallie Ledbetter Rogers. In 1951 Harvey established E. Harvey Rogers Construction, Co. which he operated until his retirement in 1991. He was a licensed building contractor in North and South Carolina and well known throughout Cleveland County as a builder of quality custom built homes. Harvey was privileged to build hundreds of homes in the Carolinas for appreciative families.

He was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Shelby where in the early 60's he took on the difficult task of repairing its leaning steeples to the relief of the congregation First Baptist and its members have been a love of his; although in later years his leaving Shelby required membership in other Churches.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Edna Blanton Rogers. His brothers, George Clyde Rogers and his wife Carry; Johnny E. Rogers and his wife Patsy; Ernest Rogers and his wife Arzie and Lita Rogers; brother-in-law, T. C. Mabry; nephew Charlie Rogers and long time special friend Sara Mode.

He is survived by his son E. Harvey Rogers, Jr. and wife Jane W. Rogers two grandchildren, Jennifer Kinion and her husband Steve; Jill lackey and her husband Nick, and two great grandsons, Walker and Bryce, all of Mooresville, N.C. He is also survived by two brothers and one sister, Paul Rogers and and wife Elaine of Florida; Leabron Rogers, Jr. and his wife, Betty Jo of Blacksburg, S.C.; and Ruth Mabry of Gaffney, S.C

SERVICES: A funeral service will be held, 5:00 pm, Wednesday in the chapel of Clay Barnette Funeral Home.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

CLERGY: Rev. Perry Holleman will officiate

BURIAL: Interment will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park
