Ethel Cook Fortenberry

SHELBY: Ethel Cook Fortenberry, 92, died Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at her residence, surrounded by her family. A native of Cleveland Co., she was daughter of the late Alvin and Ola Towery Cook. She was a long time member of Hoyle Memorial United Methodist Church, and she retired from PPG.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Fortenberry; brothers, Russell Cook, Lester Cook, Ralph Cook, Ray Cook, Jerry Cook, Hazel Sigmon Gene Sigmon, and Howard Sigmon; sisters, Gladys Beaver, Mary Fortenberry, and Evelyn Buff; and stepmother, Mertie Sigmon.

SURVIVED: She is survived by her loving daughter, Phyllis Eaker and husband Bruce of Shelby; sisters, Ruth Davis, Reba Head of Polkville, and Katherine Crotts and husband Dwight of Casar; brothers, Brady Cook and Clyde Cook and wife Diane, both of Polkville; grandchildren, Scott Eaker and wife Libby and Brent Eaker, both of Shelby; great grandchildren, Bon Eaker, Devon Eaker, Lydia Eaker, Hanna Kale and husband Jake, Breanna Eaker and Allyson "Ally" Eaker, all of Shelby and Rose Toney and husband Jordan of Kings Mountain; and great-great grandson, Ezra Toney of Kings Mountain.

FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.

OFFICIATING: Dr. Tim Sims, officiating

BURIAL: Will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park
