Fidelia Ann Sparks Edney age 88, died Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Cleveland Medical Center. Born in Cleveland County on September 3, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Rufus Edgar and Addie Crotts Sparks. Fidelia was a member of First Baptist Church for over 77 years and attended the Martin-Padgett Sunday School class. Fidelia graduated from Guyer Business College in Charlotte after high school and worked as a secretary for the North Carolina Department of Transportation for over 40 years before retiring. Fidelia was a devoted wife and loving mother. She enjoyed traveling to the mountains and the beach. In addition to her parents, Fidelia is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Gaither Edney and a brother, Gerald Sparks.

Fidelia is survived by a daughter, Debbie Edney of Greensboro; two sisters, Amy and Robert Spangler and Faye and Carl Spangler of Shelby; sister-in-law, Evelyn McQueen of Simpsonville SC; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Webb Chapel of First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Tench officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. prior to the service in the Webb Chapel.
