Firehouse BBQ Cook-Off Gets Soaked & Sauced!
The 15th annual Firehouse BBQ Cook-off, sponsored by the Kings Mountain Fire Department, was held on Friday and Saturday, April 21st-22nd at the Walking Track Park beside the YMCA. This cook-off is a Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned event. Proceeds benefit the charities of the Fire Department. Fifty-three teams competed for this year’s honors. Although the rain soaked the grounds, it didn’t deter the  teams from competing. “We’re expecting teams from all over the country. This is a big deal in the world of barbecue cooking competitions and winning here leads to the National Championship in Kansas City,” said KMFD Chief Frank Burns, organizer of the event.
