Frances Rayle Pack Farris, age 86 died Saturday May 10, 2014 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Born in Reidsville on February 8, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Paul Revere and Annie Belle Pearson Rayle. Frances was a graduate of Lenoir Rhyne and Appalachian State University with a Master’s in Education.  She retired from Shelby Middle School in 1988. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing cards and camping. In addition to her parents, Frances is preceded in death by her first husband, Donald R. Pack, and a brother, Dr. Wiley W. Rayle.

Frances is survived by her husband James Farris; three sons, Paul Richard Pack  and wife Kathy of Asheville, Thomas Michael Pack and wife Helen of Boiling Springs,  and William Sherman “Buddy” and wife Sheila of Fallston; a daughter, Cynthia Ann Pack Hoyle and husband Odell of Lake Norman; eight grandchildren, Jim Hoyle, Elizabeth  Hoyle McSwain and husband John, Carol Pack, Justin Hoyle, Haley Pack Moore and husband Taylor,  Taylor Hoyle, Kenny Pack, Buddy Pack and wife Tosha and Kevin Pack; and six great grandchildren, Ethan Hutchins, Landon Moore, Brantley Moore, Ayden Pack, Paisley Thompson, Makenzie Beam.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday May 13, 2014 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory. A private service will be held at a later date.

Memorials can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
