Franklin “Everett” Wilson



 Franklin “Everett” Wilson, age 85, of Bostic and formerly of Cliffside, died Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Fair Haven Home. 
 
     Born January 11, 1929 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late W. Barto Wilson and Maggie Lee White Wilson. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Army.  Everett worked for Greyhound Bus Lines, Western Petroleum and Stonecutter Mill as a diesel mechanic for many years before retirement, but his life’s calling was training horses, which he did for over 30 years.  He was a member of Floyd’s Creek Baptist Church for sixty-years and was always known for his passion for horses, loving his grandchildren and his keen sense of humor. Everett lived a life of dedication to his family and to his calling.
 
     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Don, W.B. and Harold Wilson.
 
     Survivors include his loving wife of sixty years, Fannie H. Wilson; two daughters, Becky Jolley and husband, Eddie of Forest City and Joyce Mahaffee and husband, Jim of Gastonia; two grandchildren, Brian McQueen and wife, Mandy and Theresa Soppelsa and husband, Michael; two great-grandchildren, Amelia Soppelsa and Cadence Raby.  He is also survived by a brother, Winfred Wilson and wife, Jayne of Rutherfordton; two sister-in-laws, Faye Wilson of Spindale and Genevia Wilson of Forest City.   
 
     A memorial service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Terry White officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:15 p.m. before the services at the funeral home. At other times they will be gathered at 177 Eastwood Village Drive.
