Mr. Fred Atkinson Ruppe, 90 of Cobb Rd., Cliffside passed away Monday, August 22 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Born May 28, 1926 in Cherokee Co., SC, he was the husband of the late Mabel Sue Jolley Ruppe and the son of the late Lafar Ruppe and Beula Atkinson Ruppe. He was a member of Prospect Baptist Church where he was a former deacon, a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Senior Men's Sunday School class. He was retired from J C Cowan, a member of the Cliffside Masonic Lodge and was a WW II veteran serving in the US Navy aboard the USS Torrance as a Gunner's Mate. Fred enjoyed life, was kind to everyone, loved children and was devoted to his family.
Survivors include his son, Jim Ruppe of Cliffside; a daughter, Libby Sanders of Cliffside; a granddaughter, Miranda Sanders of Cliffside and three great-grandchildren, Hayden Hall, Eden Hall and Landon Greene all of Cliffside.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Charles Ruppe and a sister, Almedia Parris.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Thursday August 25th at Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside with Pastor Ernie Cole officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherokee Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 PM before the service at the funeral home.
