Freddie William Ramsey

Freddie William Ramsey, age 62 died Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. Born in Columbia SC. he was the son of the late Clifford Ward and Ruby Lee Case Ramsey. Fred was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church. He served as a MP in the Army and received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Award. Fred worked many years as a salesman at various car dealerships in North and South Carolina. Fred won the Million Dollar Round Table when he worked for Southern Life. Fred was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time golfing. Fred was a people person and loved making people laugh.

Fred is survived by his wife Debbie Blanton Ramsey; a son, Bart Ramsey and girlfriend Frances P. McVay of Chapel Hill; Stepchildren, Nathan Walker and wife Paige of Gaffney and Tammy W. Whelchel and husband Michael of Blacksburg; two brothers, Gene Ramsey and wife Jadine of Shelby, and Blain Ramsey and wife Darla of Statesville; two sisters, Linda R. Blackburn and husband Ronnie and Marilyn Ramsey, all of Shelby; six grandchildren, Aron Walker, Carlee Ayers, Dalton Whelchel, Elan Whelchel, Bre Surratt, and Haven Blanchard; great grandson, Sawyer Walker; nephews Charlie Wright and Josh Ramsey; nieces, Amy Blackburn, Christina McKinney, Emilee Chester, and Elizabeth Ramsey; best friend, Eddie Ledford of Shelby; and former wife Kathy Ellen Dixon of Statesville.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 30, 2015 at Morning Star Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Leslie and Rev. Keith Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends an hour before the service, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
